Experience and Biography

Brian is experienced in all the major facets of family law: divorce, property settlement, custody, child support, paternity, spousal maintenance, domestic assault and qualified domestic relations orders.  As an advocate Brian embodies a realistic approach that always places the client first.  His professional experience includes knowledge of civil litigation, immigration, bankruptcy, personal injury, criminal defense, conciliation court, tenant/landlord and probate issues.  Brian has helped immigrant families sponsor loved-ones to the US, assisted with naturalization proceedings and helped with asylum cases.

Brian is very cognizant of the unique legal issues surrounding same-sex couples.  Until same-sex marriage is legal in Minnesota, Brian strongly recommends a domestic partnership agreement and estate planning documents (power of attorney, health care directive and will) to accomplish similar goals married heterosexual couples enjoy.
